No one ever thinks that they will need help and support in their later years in life. Certainly not my dear Father who has always been in very good health, very spirited, fiercely determined and very independent. But after losing his beloved wife and his health taking a huge downward step, it became clear that my Father needed a great deal of help and support to continue to stay in his own home. I knew that I was going to struggle to take on all of the care and support that my Father needed as well as keeping his home running. I was then recommended Lyndsey Ryan the founder and director of Elsie’s Help at Home. I knew there would be huge resistance from my Father as he always say’s “ I am fine” and “I can manage”.  Lyndsey walked through my Father’s front door oozing warmth, compassion, and a passion for her service, and very quickly had a good grasp of what my Father’s needs were, but more importantly she knew that he would need a softer approach to get used to the many emotional and physical changes that would be happening to him.  Lyndsey created a bespoke plan for him, and we have monthly reviews, which my father is heavily included in.

Elsie’s Help at Home ticks ALL of the professional boxes, but it takes a special team to develop such personal bonds with my Father, and they have done this too, whilst staying professional.  This is what sets them apart from other companies.  It’s not easy to have strangers coming into your home, but my Father has his own team, so he gets to know them, and they are matched beautifully to his personality. They know all of his habits and routines, and have a great rapport with him. They are all very kind, patient, compassionate and he is always being cared for to the highest standards. EVERY single member of his team care for him as much as I do. I have always received great communication, integrity and honesty from Elsie’s Help at home. They are trustworthy, dependable and sensitive to my Father’s emotional and physical health needs. Elderly people’s health can change very quickly, and my Father’s ever-changing needs are looked after beautifully. I firmly believe that my Father has now lived longer on this earth, because Elsie’s Help at home have given him such a happy and greater quality of life, in empowering him to live at home. My Father’s personality is now shining again and he has become the cheeky, and humorous man that he was before my Mother died, which is wonderful to see. To quote “There is no place like home……….
